I have decided to use this work because it shows my creative abilities. The assignment was to create a stop motion movie using at least one white board animation. When we were first assigned this project, I immediately became excited. I went home that night and looked through my music collection for songs to potentially set my movie to. I had never been asked to do something like this before, and I was excited for the opportunity. I decided to use less drawing and more real life elements so that I could really bring the film to life for my viewers, which I think I accomplished. I brainstormed creative ideas of playing with stop motion to extend the film to its greatest, like when it zoomed in on the characters eye until it turned into the earth. I believe I did a great job with this project, and my grades reflected the same thing.
Wire Sculpture Reflection
Like all of the projects we are assigned in media arts, this one was original and like nothing I had formerly attempted. First we did a series of blind, one line contour self-portraits and picked which one emulated us the most. After that, we transformed that portrait into a 3-D wire sculpture and planted it in a base. I really tried to think of my portrait beyond one dimension and spent a lot of time and effort into achieving that, which is why I chose this piece. I am proud of my grade on this project which was one of my highest grades of the year. What makes me proudest about this project though is that it was the piece that got me the 10th grade Frank McCourt art award.
Wonder Project Essay
For this project, we were instructed to form a research question on anything we wanted and write an essay on it. I chose to write it on how our society's stigmas of nudity and sexuality reflect on school dress codes. This is a topic that I had been caring about for a very long time, and I was excited for the opportunity to write about it in an academic setting. I took to researching right away and formed an essay that I believe is quality and is worthy of putting on display.
