The actions that Allison has taken throughout the past four years are all a tribute to the dedicated and motivated student that she has developed into over the course of her time in Frank McCourt High School. She has set herself up for success in the future by putting her school work before her social life when necessary, which shows the ability to prioritize. She hopes to be a writer, and has just won an Honorary Mention in the 2015 Penguin Random House Creative Writing Awards. During senior year, she realized her passion for comedy screenwriting, and has begun to form a path into that field. Hopefully she can integrate a visual component into her career. She is an arts and crafts counselor at sleepaway camp, and even won the Sophomore Art Award! Even in the subjects she does not see with in her adult life, she takes her grades very seriously. She sets out a specific time every day to focus on improving her individual grades.
Allison takes great pride in her leadership roles and pursuit of justice. She has worked on a number of service projects spanning three different continents, and is frequently involved in social action. Allison is very invested in her Judaic studies. She is currently the Co-President of the TYG (Temple Youth Group) that she founded, where she formerly served as the first Social Action Vice President, Religious and Cultural Vice President, and was awarded the first Jewish Youth Engagement grant ever given to teenagers. She has been a member of her youth group for almost a decade. She is an active member of NFTY-NAR (North American Federation of Temple Youth), where she served on the Social Action Committee, worked as T'filah coordinator of a 200 member weekend long event, and wrote, starred, and directed the annual roast sketch, "Mock Board". She has taken part in the RAC (Religious Action Center) four years in a row where she traveled to Washington DC and lobbied to congress for reproductive rights and domestic violence victim protection. She has also lobbied in Albany with NFTY for the DREAM Act, where she wrote a two-hour long program to educate her peers on what they were fighting for. She also traveled with her region to NFTY Convention in Atlanta, where she participated in the largest gathering of Jewish Youth in history. Her Jewish involvement also extends to sleepaway camp, where she has gone for 8 summer and counting. With camp, she has traveled to Orlando, Costa Rica, and Israel doing community service, and participated in the philanthropy club. Last year she became a counselor, where she helped to teach Arts and Crafts, ran Knitting, and spent two months in a bunk of twenty-two 12 year old girls. This summer, she will be doing the same. She had been a member of the Brandeis Campus bowling team for three years and has been getting better with every practice. Her proudest accomplishment, however is her involvement in Student Government, which she has served on since it's founding two-and-a-half years ago. This year, she was honored beyond expression to be elected as Frank McCourt HIgh School's first ever Student Body President. Her list of extra curriculars goes on, but these are some of the ones she holds closest to her heart. This has all lead up to the next four years, which she will be spending at the University of Vermont. Allison has evolved into a leader, and looks forward to evolving more each and every day throughout the remaining days of her high school career and the rest of her life.
